Volunteering at the Fleadh

Would you like to be a part of the biggest event to come to Wexford this year?

Our 2024 volunteer applications are now open!

Volunteers have and always will be at the heart of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and the involvement of volunteers is absolutely crucial to the events success. With over 500,000 visitors expected in Wexford between 4th and 11th August 2024 we will need the help of 1,000 volunteers to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

Participating as a volunteer will enable you to build new friendships, develop new skills and play an integral role in the success of the biggest festival of Irish culture in the world.

Volunteer Roles

Volunteers will be asked to fill a number of roles, from street ambassadors, assisting at competitions, being part of our Green Fleadh by helping to keep our streets clean, volunteering at concerts, car parking, providing information, photography and many other roles.

The minimum commitment is a 4 hour shift and shifts vary depending on the role.  With volunteers needed throughout the day and night, there is a role and shift time to suit everyone. You can volunteer to just do one shift or as many as you like, it’s up to you. We will be grateful for whatever time you can spare to help. We need help for the whole week of the Fleadh from Sunday 4th to Monday 12th August and we will need the biggest number of volunteers on the days of the competitions which take place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August.

Role Descriptions

Street Ambassador
Street Ambassadors will provide information and general assistance to visitors attending Fleadh Cheoil 2024. Street Ambassadors will be placed in a number of different locations on the streets in Wexford Town. Volunteers will be positioned in small groups in static locations around the town.

Information / Customer Service
If you are providing information and customer service this may be at a variety of locations, including the event venues, competition venues or the volunteer hub.

Car Parking
Car Parking stewards will assist people at the park and ride car parks across the town. They will direct people into spaces, to keep the parking as efficient as possible.

Green Fleadh Team
The Green Fleadh team will be part of the environmental team for the Fleadh. Litter picking will be the main task of this team.

Competitions Stewarding
Competitions stewards will assist at the competition venues. This may involve taking tickets, showing people to their seats or directing people to specific competition venues within a larger building. Competitions take place from the 9-11 August incl. and this is when we will need a large number of volunteers.

Concert / Event Stewarding
Similar to the competitions stewarding, this may involve taking tickets and showing people to their seats. Events take place over the full week of the Fleadh, between 4th and 11th August.

Volunteer Photographer
Volunteer photographers will play a key role in helping to build a picture of the excitement and buzz of the Fleadh. You will be asked to take photos of the volunteers at work in the various locations, on the streets of Wexford during events, to take photos of the artists as they perform. This is a really important role to capture the excitement and joy of the event.

Access Volunteer
Access volunteers may be required at any of the venues or on the streets to assist people with mobility issues to reach their destination. This may involve accompanying someone on the street to help them get from A to B, it may also involve assistance at any of the venues, helping someone to their seat.

Volunteers must be over 15.  If a volunteer is under 18 parental consent will be required.

Training

All volunteers will be asked to attend a training session in advance of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024. These training sessions will take place from April  onwards.

So why not sign up to volunteer today and be a part of Wexford Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024!  THANK YOU!
