Spás Ghaelach a chruthú ina mbeidh an Ghaeilge lárnach sa fhéile, beidh idir imeachtaí don óg agus aosta ann. Sa spás seo beidh an Ghaeilge le cloisteáil go nádúrtha agus beidh deis ag daoine le Gaeilge a gcuid Gaeilge a úsáid sna bialanna srl. Beidh an Ghaeilge le cloisteáil ar an ardán le ceol ón nGaeltacht nó ó cheoltóirí a bhfuil an Ghaeilge lárnach ina gcuid cheoil. Déanfar iarracht ceol óna tíortha Ceilteacha a chur ar an stáitse freisin chun cur leis an eispéáras and chun cur leis an ‘spás teanga’ seo.

  •  Úsáid na Gaeilge a mhéadú laistigh le linn na féile agus deiseanna labhartha a mhéadú freisin/Timpeallacht Ghaelach
  • Infheictheacht na Gaeilge a mhéadú laistigh den phobal/Timpeallacht Ghaelach a chruthú/Feasacht Teanga
  • Comhpháirtíocht a thógáil agus feasacht níos leithne ar ghníomhaíochtaí Gaeilge sa phobal a chothú
  • Scileanna Gaeilge daoine aonair laistigh den phobal a fheabhsú/Deiseanna Foghlama

Seachtain na Gaeilge creates a cultural space where an Ghaeilge will be central to the festival. There will be events for young and old in this space. In this space Irish will be heard naturally and people will be able to use their Irish in the restaurants etc. Irish will be heard from the stage with music from the Gaeltacht or from musicians who have Irish central in their music. We will attempt to bring music from the other Celtic countries to add to the experience and to add to this ‘language space’.

These are the 4 aims of Seachtain na Gaeilge are: 

  • To increase the use of Irish during the festival and to create opportunities to use the language/to create an Irish Language Environment.
  • To improve the visibility of Irish within the community and festival/To create language awareness
  • To build cooperation and to improve awareness of the Irish Language and Irish Language activities in the festival and in the community.
  • To improve Irish Language skills of individuals and create learning opportunities
