Volunteer at the Fleadh in Belfast

Calling all volunteers: be the heartbeat of Fleadh!

Excited for Fleadh? Now's your chance to be at the very heart of it! Volunteer Now are seeking up to 1,500 volunteers to help with the smooth running of the 2026 Fleadh in Belfast.

With 1,300 members of the public already signed up you will need to be fast to secure a slot in the last 200 places!

Over 800,000 people are set to experience the eight-day event from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August 2026 in Belfast. Visitors will need to know how to get around the city, where to find performance venues, access facilities and more.

Volunteers will be instrumental in making the famous festival a success. Every performance, smiling face and unforgettable moment will be made possible by those who give of their time, energy and support. Fleadh Volunteers will be across Belfast city centre as Welcome Ambassadors, supporting the Competitions and Scoil Éigse as well as helping deliver the Fringe Events. Every volunteer will receive specialist training from Volunteer Now so don’t worry if you have never volunteered before, Volunteer Now will have you well prepared before your first shift.

What roles are available?

Welcome Ambassadors

This street-based team will be the face of the Fleadh. Positioned across the city, they will help orientate visitors by assisting with queries, sharing what’s happening, signposting and providing local recommendations.

This is an ideal role if you want to be in the fresh air, meet people and be truly at the centre of the event.

Competitions Volunteers

This venue team will help ensure that the world-class competitions run smoothly in a range of venues across Belfast.

From adjudicator to accessibility support, door supervisors and selling wristbands to general behind the scenes tasks, this is an ideal role for anyone but particularly people with experience and knowledge of Fleadh or traditional music.

Fringe Event Support Volunteers

Concerts, exhibitions, storytelling, family-friendly workshops and a wide range of other supporting events will take place as part of Fleadh Belfast. Covering a range of venues across the city, volunteer support may include wayfinding, accessibility support, selling wristbands, stage management/access, door supervisors, accessibility seating, and more.

This is an ideal role for people who have experience working in venues or at concerts and similar types of events.

Scoil Éigse Volunteer

This summer school offers young and up and coming musicians a unique opportunity to learn from traditional music’s best teachers and musicians. This week of intensive tuition and fun filled sessions at ‘Club na hÉigse’ culminates in a special concert featuring students and tutors. Held in Ulster University, volunteers can help with wayfinding, door supervisors, tutor support and more.

This is an ideal role for people who are familiar with the Ulster University building or may indeed have children attending Scoil Éigse this year (or in previous years).

Why volunteer?

There's such a feel-good factor to volunteering and becoming a Fleadh volunteer offers the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills
and be part of a community. It’s also a chance to experience the energy of Fleadh from the inside.
