Below you’ll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Below is a link to the newest specific map for staff and local residents with the existing road closures as listed on local media. This map is for the staff and residents of affected streets in Mullingar and as such should not be widely shared on social media. Car Parking will be on a first come first served basis.

All affected streets will be open from 4am to 10am daily for deliveries, cars left on the streets of affected road closure areas will be towed.

Bishopsgate Street will be open to residents only from Sunday 31st to Thursday 4th from 12am to 3pm daily and from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th from 4am to 10am daily. Exceptions only for Blue Badge Holders and Authorised Vehicles.  A permit will be required from residents to enable this access. To apply for a permit please respond to the leaflet sent to you directly. Sunday’s Well Road will now be open as normal.

Taxi Ranks will be at Market Point, Harbour Place, Buckley’s Supervalu and Greyhound Stadium.

Bus Eireann Bus Services will be communicated shortly from Bus Eireann

Rail Services will run as normal from Mullingar Train Station, however, there is no parking, as advised by Iarnrod Eireann, at this location and alternative parking must be sought – nearby car parks include Fire Station.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is a huge family event. There is an Event Controller and Event Control Room in place, ongoing monitoring of crowd levels through on the ground and CCTV systems available in the Control room. Pedestrian Management Plan in place with street capacities calculated, measure in place to restrict pedestrian access if required through barrier systems manned by professional event security.

There will be a significant increase in garda presence for the Fleadh Cheoil.

Contractors are being appointed in addition to Westmeath County Council staff for street/event waste collections. Normal Waste Operators are being asked to collect waste from 4am to 10am in line with road closures. Plastic Glass Collection from licensed premises are being communicated through the Vintners Association. Contractors for this collection are also being appointed in addition to Westmeath County Council Staff while being sensitive to ‘Green’ initiative.

Parking for staff and residents affected by street closures will be at Columb Barracks. Car parking for existing permit holders is available on a first-come-first-served basis at Lift Hire Ireland (N91 K4XY) from 7am to 7pm. In addition, there will be additional Fleadh car parks and shuttle buses for people attending the Fleadh over the week.

Bishopsgate Street will be open to residents only (with permit) from Sunday 31st to Thursday 4th from 12am to 3pm daily and from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th from 4am to 10am daily. Roads are closed outside of these hours with exception of emergency vehicles and authorised Vehicles. A permit will be required from residents to enable this access. To apply for a permit please respond to the leaflet sent to you directly. Sunday’s Well Road will now be open as normal.

All affected streets will be open from 4am to 10am daily for deliveries, bin collections and street cleaning. Cars left on the streets of affected road closure areas will be towed outside of these times.

Parking will still be available for shopping purposes at Harbour Place Shopping Centre, Aldi, Lidl, Penneys underground ( all privately operated, and limited Parking Buckley’s Supervalu. Additional car parks are allocated in Lift Hire Ireland and Columb Barracks for local staff and residents. Further Car Parks are being created for people attending the Fleadh.

Accessible parking will be available for Disability Permit holders at Buckley’s Supervalu , Columb Barracks and at the rear of the County Council Buildings. All of the shuttle buses serving the town will also be wheelchair accessible making all of the serviced carparks suitable for wheelchair users. Disabled Toilets will be available at most of the portable toilet locations throughout the town such as Blackhall Car Park, Church Avenue, the Town Park as well as at the Barracks and Supervalu carparks. Most of the businesses in the town also have accessible toilet facilities.

There will be a disabled access viewing area at both gig rigs and those with valid concert tickets for Cathedral concerts and a Disability permit will be allowed park at the Cathedral to attend the concert.

Blue Badge Holders will be able to access Cathedral Ticketed Events with their Blue Badge Pass and a Ticket for that night. Residents with a permit (which needs to be applied for through the letter sent in mailbox) who are Blue Badge Holders will have access to Bishopsgate Street.

Shuttle Buses timetables are being arranged from additional car parks and from the campsite. These can be accessed by locals and residents as well as those attending the Fleadh. There will be morning, afternoon, and evening services from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th and will be more regular from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th. Full details on shuttle buses will be made available in due course.

Car parking for existing permit holders is available on a first come first served basis at a manned car park in Lift Hire Company (7am – 7pm), Car parking will be available at The Columb Barracks, in addition to ‘Fleadh’ car parks.

Exceptions only for Authorised Vehicles.  A permit will be required from residents to enable this access. To apply for a permit please respond to the leaflet sent to you directly.

Sunday’s Well Road will now be open as normal.

If there is a funeral during the course of the week, the Fleadh Executive Committee will engage with the local clergy and make appropriate arrangements.

Parking controllers and towing operators are obliged to carry out towing activities in compliance with the event license. Normal Traffic Enforcement will apply. 

There is no restriction on bikes in the earlier part of the week, as levels increase this will be managed on a risk-assessed basis, if needed these can be restricted in pedestrianised zones. All motorised vehicles are prohibited with the exception of  Mobility Scooters and emergency/ authorised event vehicles.

Parking Zones for bikes to be confirmed at a later date.

Mullingar Tidy Town, Additional Contractors and Volunteers and Westmeath County Council Staff will ensure the cleanliness of Mullingar Town on a daily basis.
