Members of the local business community are invited to an important information briefing on arrangements for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018. The event, which is hosted by the local Fleadh Executive Committee and supported by Louth County Council, will be held on Wednesday 30th May, from 6pm for a 6.30pm start at the Westcourt Hotel, Drogheda.
The briefing will be led by a panel of representatives from the Fleadh Executive Committee, Louth County Council, An Garda Síochána, the HSE and Louth County Fire & Rescue Service. The panel will address issues that businesses need to consider in advance of the Fleadh and participate in a Q&A session with attendees.
Entrepreneur Gavin Duffy will also be on-hand to facilitate a special session for the local business community around the Fleadh Charter, which prioritises excellence in customer service and the legacy element of the Fleadh. Gavin will draw on his extensive experience to discuss the long-term benefits for businesses who adopt the recommendations of the Fleadh Charter.
Commenting on the upcoming briefing session, Padraic Kierans said;“The Fleadh Executive Committee, in conjunction with Louth County Council, are committed to working with the local business community to maximise on the significant opportunities hosting Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann offers, from both an economic and tourism perspective.
“With over 400,000 people expected to attend the week-long event and an estimated €40 million to flow into the region as a result of the festival, it is vital that we work together to ensure Drogheda and the surrounding region offers a unique and memorable visitor experience this August. This summer’s event will shine a spotlight on the region and it is therefore crucial that, through initiatives such as the Fleadh Charter, we collectively put our best foot forward to ensure we deliver excellence in customer service and the warmest of welcomes.“
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the largest celebration of Irish music, song and dance in the world and this year’s event marks the first time that the festival will be held on the north east coast of the country. Fleadh Drogheda, which is supported by main sponsor the Credit Union, will be held from 12th– 19thof August and boasts some of the country’s most talented musicians, singers and dancers including Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill, Zoë Conway, Damien Dempsey, Pádraigín Ni Uallacháin, Sibéal Davitt and Gerry O’Connor.
