Traditional Fiddler John Roche has had a lifelong interest in the traditional music, song and dance of his native Wexford. Over the past number of years, he has been collecting, notating and making available online, a vast store of traditional music associated with County Wexford. In particular, he has sought, found and in most cases, notated for the first time, traditional compositions of Wexford-born musicians and of the Wexford diaspora.
During the course of the ‘Wexford Tune Project’, he has also gathered photographic and audio records that relate to the story of traditional Irish music in the Model County. He has provided articles on local traditional music history for Fleadh programmes, been interviewed on local and national radio on the same topic and recently recorded a podcast for the ‘At the Crossroads’ series.
This event will include a musical performance. Booking is essential as places are limited.
